CURRIER MUSEUM TRIP A SUCCESS

A group of Lincoln-Woodstock residents enjoyed a field trip sponsored by the Friends of Lincoln Library to the Currier Museum of Art --Zimmermann House and the Millyard Museum in Manchester on Thursday Sept 25th. Thanks to Karen Trickett and Sharon Carroll for organizing the trip and Tara Tower and the Town of Lincoln for the transportation. We are looking into other trips in the near future. BANNED BOOK WEEK

Banned Books Week: Celebrating the Freedom to Read!
September 27 through October 4.


Banned Books Week is the only national celebration of the freedom to read. It was launched in 1982 in response to a sudden surge in the number of challenges to books in schools, bookstores and libraries. More than a thousand books have been challenged since 1982. The challenges have occurred in every state and in hundreds of communities. People challenge books that they say are too sexual or too violent. They object to profanity and slang, and protest against offensive portrayals of racial or religious groups--or positive portrayals of homosexuals. Their targets range from books that explore the latest problems to classic and beloved works of American literature.


Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.

BOOK BINGO GRAND PRIZE WINNERS

We had another great ADULT summer reading program this year, We had over 50 people take bingo cards, and 13 of them complete the card, which is 25 books. The program is now over and the Grand prize winners are.....

CONCERT+++PATRICK ROSS, FIDDLER EXTRAORDINAIRE

The library will be sponsoring a concert by Patrick Ross, Fiddler extraordinaire, on Thur Sept 4th 7:30 at the community center on Pollard Rd in Lincoln. This is a ticket event $8 for Adults $5 for seniors and children or $20 for a family.
