FRIENDS OF LINCOLN LIBRARY ANNUAL PLANT SALE
We know you are thinking about your gardens, now that the snow is finally gone, come see us at Soldier Park in N.Woodstock Saturday May 23rd from 9-2pm to get all of your planting needs, We have hundreds of annuals, perennials, hanging baskets, vegetables. anything you might need to get your hands dirty and make your home look beautiful. At 11 am Master Gardener Kareen Hamilton will give a presentation on companion planting, free and open to all. We will have on hand several MASTER GARDENERS to help you make the right choices. We will also be raffling a JACK RICHARDSON print. All proceeds benefit the LINCOLN PUBLIC LIBRARY.

Runaway Wives: When Colonial Marriages Failed
When 18th century wives tired of the marriage contract, they could run, but they could not hide. Husbands chased them down via newspaper ads, effectively removing their sources of income. In the vocabulary of the war between the sexes, one reads of enduring economic and social barriers to runaway wives. Marcia Schmidt Blaine, Plymouth State University, presents this program which is co-hosted by the Upper Pemigewasset Historical Society and the Lincoln Public Library. Contact Carol Riley 745-8159

"The American Library Association, through a generous grant from the Toyota Motor Corporation is very pleased that the Lincoln Public Library will be one of 200 public libraries in the United States to receive a set of 50 translated books of modern Japanese fiction and non-fiction.
The translated works of award winning authors provides a great sample of popular works from Japan in many genre-fiction, fantasy, mystery, horror, historical, Manga, etc. The non-fiction books provide insight into areas of Japanese history and culture... "
